Associate Planner Wald stated it would be on the Community Board, posted on QCTV, and it
was announced in the Ramsey Resident.
Chairperson Nixt questioned what was driving this action.
Associate Planner Wald indicated the City Council approved the initiation of a Comprehensive
Plan update and desired to have a public community meeting to initiate the process.
Commissioner Van Scoy stated part of his concern with things that have been brought to them is
that it is not what the Comprehensive Plan shows, so he welcomes this.
Chairperson Nixt agreed it will either reinforce that the Comprehensive Plan is where the city is
headed or highlight areas that need to be changed.
Associate Planner Wald indicated this is a kick-off meeting to provide information and allow
residents time to provide general feedback.
Commissioner Brauer noted that with the last Comprehensive Plan update there were some
properties overlooked and the Commission had to back track after the fact. He stated he is
wondering if they can identify the areas that will be looked at and notify those homeowners that
something may be on the horizon.
Associate Planner Wald stated she thinks that will take place after this meeting. She indicated
this meeting will be the kick-off to see what areas need to be looked at.
Commissioner Van Scoy commented that they already know where the pressure areas are now.
Associate Planner Wald agreed, but indicated more analysis needs to be done.
Commissioner Van Scoy stated anyone in the rural developing area would probably have a
reason to be there.
Commissioner Jeffrey stated he hopes they pack the house, because this is an important topic.
Commissioner Brauer stated that the more people that know about it, the better. He does not
want this meeting to be dominated by developers wanting to get in here.
Commissioner Van Scoy stated he would be interested to hear from the folks that live in the rural
developing area, noting the only ones they have heard from are those that want to develop.
Chairperson Nixt noted he will not be here on October 7`", which is the next regularly scheduled
meeting.
Commissioner Brauer stated there is a possibility he will not be here either. He will be in New
York and is not sure he will make it back in time.
Planning Commission/September 16, 2004
