The boulevard was redone at the time Highway 47 was improvedl Mr. Kemp's
concem is the quality of the turf. There are also people walking up the boulevard up to Alpine
Drive, which is the nearest crosswalk. Currently there is a trail all the way down Highway 47 on
the east side of the road. Mr. Kemp's question is if there is value to putting the trail on the west
side as well.

Mr. Kemp stated people come up the fi'ontage road, and then either have to cross the highway or
walk on his side of the road. When they put in the road they put nice sod in there. The first
winter th.e salt killed it all off, and the only thing ~owing within the ten feet of curb [s crab ~'ass.
He was concerned about whether M~flFOT would give him sod that could stand ~tp. The other
option would be to pttt a paved trail there; it would no~ necessarily have to be as wide as other
trails. He ~explained he has seen people that bike and walk down the highway in the turn lane.

Cotmcim~ember Cook noted from the Parle and Recreation standpoint, it has always been the
discussion [hat after the trail was completed on Highway 47 on one side and had a sa~'e passage,

4

Pub]it Work~ Commitree/,Octoi)er 19, 2t)04
Page 1 a~' 13
