CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Mcmbcrs Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec Councilmember Todd Cook Councilmember David Elvig Councilmember Patti Kurak Councilmember A1 Pearson Councilmember Sarah Strommen Members Absent: Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman Also Present: Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson Assistant Director of Public Works Brian Olson Assistant Public Works Director Patrick Trudgeon Police Chief Jim Way Bill Baxley, BKV Group Ted Redmond, BKV Group Cheryl Badinger, 3D/I CALL TO ORDER Mayor Gamcc called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:05 p.m. APPROVE AGENDA The agcnda was approved as submitted. COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION 1) Update of Police & City Hall Facility (New Ramsey Municipal Center) Mr. Rcdmond reviewed the project background for the City of Ramsey Municipal Center, including information of how the City arrived at where they are today. At this point they have completed the schematic design process and are moving into a more detailed design where they start looking at the finer components of the building, such as mechanical and electrical systems. He explained to get to this point they have had a number of meetings, and have been meeting with the Facilities Committee every other week. They have also had a number of user group meetings with each department to focus specifically on their space and make sure their needs are being anticipated properly. The facility is engineered for a 10 to 15 year growth expectancy. To accommodate that growth the plan is being set up to be very flexible with the ability to plug in City Council Work Session/November 9, 2004 Page 1 of 3
