CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br /> <br />Topic Report: <br /> <br />By: <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding 2005 Proposed Organizational <br />Changes <br /> <br />Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Public Works <br /> <br />Earlier in 2004 City Council held a work session to discuss details of the proposed 2005 <br />budget. At that meeting staff presented a proposal to alter the current structure of the Public <br />Works Dept adding a separate Utilities Division. <br /> <br />Ctm'ently the utilities responsibilities are comb/ned with the parks functions. Although this <br />arrangenaent has historically allowed for flexibility within the workday of the maintenance <br />workers, increased pressure is placed on the supervisor to meet the requirements of the <br />increasing demands of both the parks and utility ft~nctions. <br /> <br />Details of' the proposed structure change include: <br /> · Move two maintenance workers fi:om currem division(s) to the newly created Utility <br /> Division. <br /> o One person will fill the role of Public Works Utility Worker. <br /> o One person will fill the role of Utilities Leadperson: <br /> · The Leadperson title is plato-ted to change to supe~Tisor later in 2005. <br /> · All maintenance workerjob descriptions will be altered to prioritize the base functions <br /> within the respecti,~e division;e.g., Streets, Parlcs, Utilities <br /> o Snowplowing will remain a priority on all job descriptions <br /> <br />Irit-e l)epartment <br /> <br />Earlier itl 2004 tile City Council held a work session to discuss the upcoming 2005 budget. A~ <br />that meeting the Fire Chief presented two perso~mel requests (or 2005: hiring a part-time <br />Secretary and l>romoting the current Fire h~spector to Fire Marshal. <br /> <br />Thc cl'tk~ct on the structure within the Fire Department is mil~mal. There will be no additional <br />levels created within the cun'ent structure. The Fire Marshal will continue to report to the Fire <br /> <br /> <br />
