CASE

REQUEST FOR AN INTERIM USE PERMIT FOR A TEMPORARY
STRUCTURE; CASE OF CITY WIDE GARAGE DOOR COMPANY, INC.
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

Ivan Clausen of City Wide Garage Door has submitted an application for an interim use permit to
place a temporary structure at 6845 Highway #10 N.W. The structure is approximately 648 square
feet in size and will be used to replace office space damaged by fire until the principal building on
the property is repaired

Following the fire on June 14, Mr. Clausen found himself in an emergency situation and in
immediate need of office space on the site in which to try to carry on business activities and
coordinate repairs to the building. In order to accommodate his immediate needs in an emergency
situation, City Staff gave Mr. Clausen permission to bring a temporary office structure onto the site
prior to any action by the Planning Commission and City Council. This pre-approval was
contingent upon Mr. Clausen entering into an agreement and depositing a $500 financial guarantee
with the City to ensure timely removal of the temporary structure in the event the permit application
is denied or upon the expiration date established in an approved permit. Mr. Clausen signed the
agreement and provided the $500 financial guarantee.

The following items are enclosed for your information:

a)
b)
c)
d)
e)

Site location map
Site plan
Pre-agreement
Proposed findings of fact
Proposed interim use permit

Observations:

The applicants have indicated that the temporary office space would be needed on the site for
approximately 6 months.
