HIGHWAY #10 SERVICE ROAD PLANNING
By: James D. Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

CASE #3

Background:

At last months meeting, the Commission suggested that they examine the idea of the completion
of service roads along the northside of Highway #10 between Ramsey Blvd. and Sunfish Lake
Blvd. N.W. at this evenings meeting. The commission requested that a map be made available
showing the buiidings that are currently located along the portion of Highway #10 and any areas
for which the City has already acquired an agreement for the service road right-of-way (ROW).

Available at the meeting will be a map showing the following information:

· Areas currently controlled by the City
· Businesses in the corridor identified
· Location of Buildings shown
· Outline of the proposed route of the service road

I have talk to the City Engineer about the location of the road along the railroad tracks and any
problems that might be associated with the stacking requirements. He has indicated that this
should not be a problem with the proposed road. In addition, I have asked the City's Landscape
Architect intern to estimate the costs of the construction of the roadway. These numbers do not
include any of the costs of ROW acquisition.

For your review and use as a base document, I have drafted a memo that the Commission may
want to use to submit their recommendations to the City Council.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion the commission should make recommendations for the construction of a
service road along the northside of Highway #10.

Reviewed by:
Economic DevelOpment Coordinator

City Administrator

EDC: 03/14/96
