businesses are closed. The parking lot that serves the building in which the temporary church <br />will be located has 83 parking stalls. The applicant is planning for a maximum of 342 <br />worshipers for Mass. Staff believes there is adequate parking for the proposed temporary church. <br />In the event that additional parking is required, there is additional parking area in the truck <br />maneuvering area ill the rear of the building that can be used. Staff will confirm with the <br />applicant that this area can serve as overflow parking. The Planning Commission reviewed the <br />request and recommended approval of the Interim Use Permit for a period of five years. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec welcomed Father Paul and stated he is glad to see a strong interest in bringing a <br />church to Ramsey. He is happy to have the Catholic Church pick Ramsey as a site. <br /> <br />Father Paul stated he is very pleased to be in Ramsey, and the City has been gracious to them. <br />The parish started with two families, and now over 50 families have signed up. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to adopt Resolution <br />#04-10-330 adopting Findings of Fact #0706 relating to the request for an Interim Use Permit. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Strommen, Kurak, <br />Pearson, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberElvig. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to adopt Resolution <br />#04-10-331 approving the request for an Interim Use Permit and declaring the terms as proposed. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Strommen, Kurak, <br />Pearson, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Elvig. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec stated churches are an important part of their community and <br />they try to work with all the churches. He welcomed St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Community <br />on behalf of the Council and the residents of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Case #11: <br /> <br />Introduce Ordinance to Amend R-1 Residential District Regulations; Case of <br />City of Ramsey <br /> <br />Colnmunity Development Director Frolik explained since the adoption of the 2001 <br />Comprehensive Plan, the City has taken the steps necessary to implement the Plan by amending <br />the Subdivision and Zoning Chapter of City Code. As is generally the case when working with <br />the new ordinances, corrections and housekeeping items begin to show up. Staff has been <br />compiling a 'parking lot list' of housekeeping items that need to be corrected or clarified. She <br />reviewed the proposed amendments to the R~I Residential District regulations, and advised the <br />Planning Commission conducted a public hearing and recommended approval of the proposed <br />am end m ell ts. <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Kurak stated they have had this discussion quite a few times, and she had <br />suggested it would be a good idea if any single-family development being developed along a <br />county road, or with back yards facing the street, would have a requirement that the developer <br /> <br />City Council/October 26, 2004 <br /> Page 13 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
