She stated in this instance, Staff feels that a privacy fence will better buffer <br />the neighborhood than 60 feet of open space. She indicated that based on the unusual shape of <br />the property, site design considerations, and the proposed use of the property, Staff recommends <br />approval of the request for variance for a lesser bufferyard. <br /> <br />Public Input <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt asked what was adjacent to this property on the north. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler indicated it is single-family lots. <br /> <br />Board Member Brauer indicated when they had a hearing on this before he remembers someone <br />had a daycare, and he believes an 8-foot fence would improve the situation for that homeowner. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler stated they are proposing an 8-foot cedar privacy fence rather than just <br />a chain link fence. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt asked if this was the minimum the applicant could go with their request for a <br />variance. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler stated that given all the discussion on the cul-de-sac, the applicant <br />would have to significantly change their site plan to get more than 30 feet. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Board Member Shepherd to close the public hearing at <br />7:13 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Board Members Shepherd, Brauer, and Watson. <br />Voting No: None.
