Voting Yes: Chairman Lichter, Commissioners Shumway, Lokker,
Prall, Rustad and Johnson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Hetland.

Case #1 Review Proposd Trail Corridors

Tim Kaster - 17765 Tonto - stated that he has a petition from the people in his
neighborhood and that they do not want four trails going through their land.
They don't think it is the right place.

Henry Florentius - 17601 Marmoset - asked what the benefits of the trails were
and who thinks it is a good idea and who doesn't.

Commissioner Shumway said that there was a survey in the March 1987 Ramsey
Resident that was sent out.

Tom Wright - 17105 Nowthen Blvd. - stated that he was opposed to the trail
system. He said that if someone would donate the land that would be different
but he doesn't like the idea of having the trails going through his pasture and
others backyards. He also stated that he does not think Ramsey needs a trail
system.

Henry Florentius asked who would be paying for the trails.

Commissioner Shumway said that the land would be dedicated.

Ragna Pearson - 8846 Hwy 10 - stated that she is opposed to the trails.

Carol Barnet - 612i - 161st - said that the trail will be taking 45 to 75 Feet
of her property. She stated that she is against the trails but she will not
fight it.

Bill Weiss - 16053 Nowthen- stated that he thinks the County should take over
the trail system and that he doesn't think the City can afford the up-keep on
them; he thinks the money should be used on the parks we already have.

Ron Hunt - 17455 Nowthen - stated that the Commission said they are not going
to take land but down the line they will have to in order to finish the trails.

Gerald Ackerman - 15510 Zirconium - said that the trails will take one acre of
his land and he has only got 4.8.

John Rowe - 17059 Nowthen - suggested having another survey done because so
many people are against the trails.

Marilyn Ranelle - 17600 Marmoset - stated that her property is across the
street from a proposed parking lot and that she feels it will lower her
property value.

Park and Recreation Commission/August 11, 1988
