4. Any soil treatment area other than seepage pits shall be set back the <br />following distances if located in an area which has been designated as follows by <br />any local, state or federal regulation: <br /> <br />~Regulation <br /> <br />Set Back Distance in Feet <br /> <br />Recreational development lakes <br /> <br />75* <br /> <br />General development lakes and streams <br /> <br />50* <br /> <br />Wild River 150' <br /> <br />Scenic river 100' <br /> <br />Critical river 100' <br /> <br />Designated tributaries of wild, scenic <br />and recreational rivers <br /> <br />75* <br /> <br />*Required for new developments, and where practicable, <br />for existing developments <br /> <br /> 5. Soil treatment areas shall not be placed in flood plains delineated by <br />local ordinances adopted in compliance with the Statewide Standards and Criteria for <br />~anagement of Flood Plain Areas of Minnesota (MinS, R~ NR 85-93), or in areas 'for' <br />which regional flood information is available fronl the Department of ~atural Resources. <br /> <br />c. Design and Construction, <br /> <br /> l. The bottom of trenches and beds shall be at least four feet above the <br />water table or bedrock. <br /> <br /> 2. The trenches shall be not less than 18 inches nor more than 36 inches <br />wide, Any trench wider than 36 inches shall be considered a bed. <br /> <br />3. Trenches and beds shall be not more than 100 feet in length. <br /> <br />4, The bottom of the trench or bed excavation shall be level. <br /> <br /> 5. The bottom and sides of the trench or bed excavation to the level of the <br />filter material shall be scarified to remove smears left by the construction equipment <br />and footprints. All loose material shall be removed from the excavation. The bottom <br />of tile excavation shall not be driven on or ~lalked on after scarification, <br /> <br /> 6. When the soil percolation rate at the bottom of the trench or bed is <br />slower than 15 minutes per inch, nc vehicle or excavation equipment shall be allowed <br />on the trench or bed area. Excavation shall be by back hoe or other means that allow <br />the equipment wheels or tracks to remain on the surface soil. <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br /> <br />
