(i) Pumps and pump stations shall be sized to handle peak flows and an <br />alarm system shall be provided for all pumping stations to warn of pump failure, <br />overflow or other malfunction. <br /> <br /> 4. Maintenance. A contract for the maintenance of all common drainfields, <br />sewage tanks, pumps, pump stations, sewers and all individual tanks connected to a <br />common drainfield shall be maintained by the city and all persons using the system. <br />Such contracts shall be made jointly, and shall continue for the life of the system. <br /> <br /> 5. Metering. Sewage flow shall be monitored continuously, recorded <br />monthly, and reported annually to the Council. Metering can be accomplished by <br />installation of a water meter to measure the flow to all pumping fixtures except <br />the outside sillcocks or, if a sewage pump is used, installation of a pump cycle <br />counter on the sewage pump. <br /> <br />c. _S.eepage Pi ts. <br /> <br /> !. <br /> Seepage pits may be used for disposal of sewage tank effluent in the <br />Urban ~ervice Area when such use is indicated by favorable conditions of soil <br />ground water level, or topography and where such use does not reduce the safety of <br />surrounding ground water supplies. The pit excavation shall terminate at least <br />four feet above the highest known or calculated ground water table. <br /> <br /> 2. When two or more seepage pits are used, a distribution box constructed <br />in accordance with 4.04 shall be used if the inlet inverts of the seepage pits have <br />no more than one foot difference in elevation. If the difference in elevation between <br />the inlet inverts is greater than one foot, the seepage pits shall be connected in <br />series. <br /> <br /> 3. The location of seepage pits, in addition to the general provisions under <br />Section 4..06 shall be not less than the stated minimum distances from the following: <br /> <br /> Wells less than 50 feet in depth and not encountering at least l0 feet of <br />impervious material ........................................................... 150 ft. <br /> <br />Any water supply well or buried water suction pipe .................. 75 ft. <br /> <br />Buildings ........................................................... 20 ft. <br /> <br />Property lines and buried pipe distribution water under pressure .... l0 ft. <br /> <br /> Other seepage pits ........ three times the diameter of the largest pit <br />(edge to edge). <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br /> <br />
