Page two '~ <br /> <br />Opportunities to RespOnd ~ <br /> <br />Because of the importance Of t~eSe revised forecasts, the Council <br />will take the following steps {o~insure adequate opportunity for <br />public response and to work out Specific differences of opinion <br />relating to these forecasts. ~ <br /> <br />First, Council staff, either f~rmally through the Systems Statement <br />reconciliation process or informally beginning immediately and con- <br />tinuing on through the summer,~will be meeting with local communities <br />and responding to concerns with ~egard to these forecasts. You are <br />encouraged to contact staff im~ediately if you have questions or <br />concerns about the forecasts, i ~ <br /> <br />Second, the Council invites yo~ to participate in a public meeting <br />to be held at 3:00 p.m. on~M~y~lg in the Metropolitan Council <br />Chambers for the purpose of Considering these revised forecasts and <br />their use. ~ <br /> <br />If you cannot attend in person~ please send in written co~ents by <br />June 1. This meeting has beenicalled for informational purposes and <br />to get local comments regardin9 the revised forecasts and tne~_ pro- <br />posed use. <br /> <br />Third, public hearings will bei. held in the early fall on the proposed <br />amendment to the Development F~amework Chapter of the Metropolitan <br />Development Guide. However, the ~ouncil strongly urges communities <br />with concerns about the reviSe~ forecasts to contact us as soon as <br />possible in order to beginiworki~ toward resolution of questions <br />before these fall public hearings!. It is better to reach agreement <br />on the forecasts as soon as possible so as not to delay the develop- <br />ment of local comprehensive plRnsi~ or the award of planning grants. <br />It would be our intent to reac~ ~greement, if at all possible, prior <br />to the fall public hearings on, the formal adoption of the forecasts <br />as an amendment to the Development Framework. <br /> <br />What Can You Do? <br /> <br />Communities, such as yours, that have received their preliminary <br />Systems Statment containing different population forecasts are urged <br />to promptly contact our staff~o ~iscuss differences or questions. <br />We believe it will be possibleitolresolve most questions through <br />such an early and cooperative approach. The Council and staff feels <br />a strong responsibility to~wor~.~ith you toward an amicable, speedy <br />resolution of any questions re,ar'ding these figures. <br /> <br />If you have any questions eoncer~ing this letter or the process that <br />you should follow in raising c~ncerns about these forecasts, please <br />call the Council's Develop~ent~F~amework Division (291-6325). A <br />copy of this letter and:the forecasts are also being sent to the <br />person that your community ~has~d~signated as its contact person for <br />communications regarding the L~nd.Planning Act Systems Statements. <br /> <br /> <br />
