CC Regular Session 7. 3. <br />Meeting Date: 12/12/2017 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative <br />Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution # 17-12-308 to Hire a Streets Maintenance Worker to Fill a Vacant Position <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to fill the current <br />vacancy. <br />The City currently has one Streets Maintenance Worker vacancy. The name of the selected candidate will be <br />provided, pending receipt of the final test results which are anticipated just prior to the City Council meeting. If the <br />results of the testing are not satisfactory, the case will be withdrawn until another candidate can be presented for <br />City Council approval to hire. <br />As a result of the vacancy, an internal and external recruitment was conducted to fill the position. Interviews were <br />held and staff has selected a top candidate. The candidate subsequently participated in the the City's <br />pre -employment testing process. The City extended a job offer which is contingent upon passing all of the <br />pre -employment testing and City Council approval. If the candidate is approved for hire, he will be subject to a <br />six-month probationary period, the personnel policy and the AFSCME union contact. <br />Notification: <br />The Street Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining streets, parking lots and <br />related property; performing snow related activities; performing general maintenance activities; performing general <br />labor; performing vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance; performing and assisting with landscape, grounds <br />care, and forestry/naturalist activities; providing assistance with preparation of community events; performing <br />mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide range of other tasks as required. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required for this position has already been included in the 2018 budget and represents a savings of <br />$8825.00 over the previously anticipated allocation. <br />Recommendation: <br />To hire (name) as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, effective on or near <br />December 13, 2017 at $21.13 per hour which is step 1 of the 2017 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #17-12-308 to hire (name) as a full-time Public Works Streets <br />Maintenance Worker, effective on or near December 13, 2017 at $21.13 per hour which is step 1 of the 2017 wage <br />scale. <br />Attachments <br />Resolution 1712308 <br />
