BRUCE F, BACON <br /> <br />Brt~ce F. Bacon has been en]ployed as part-time tree inspector for the Git>' of <br />Ramsey since 1976. He has attended annual technical training and certification <br />workshops by :he Minnesota Department of Agriculture. He is a member of the <br />Minnesota Society of Arbo,'-iculmre. <br /> <br />in ~1984, the Minnesota P.C.A., Air Quality Division, was given permitting <br />responsibility for all open fires in the seven count), Metropolitan Area. He ',,,'as <br />appointed "Fire \Varden" to inspect each P.C.A. application in the Cily, for <br />compliance with air quality regulations. <br /> <br />In 1986, Con]pos: Coordinator was added to the job responsibilities. <br /> <br />His Cit.,,, work entails considerable field response to citizen inquiries for technical <br />information about tree disease control, soil and plant maintenance practices, and <br />recommendations. In response to citizen needs, the City Council mandated <br />increasing the development of an Urban Forestry Municipal Plan following <br />recommended State guidelines. Prelimina.D' planning work in the Community <br />Development D:pa.rm'~ent has resulted in a sustainable cornmunity foresz'y proposal. <br />A pilot chipping project co-sponsored with the L~dfill Commission has been <br />implemented. A pm"ficipatou, neighborhood planning pro:ess is seen as central ~o <br />the longer term sustainability and accountmbility. <br /> <br />In ]987, he volunteered to serve on the City of Ramsey Landfill Abatement <br />Commission, ~d in 1988, joined the Anok.'.- (Jounty Yard \Vaste Subcommittee. <br />Also in 1988, he joined with the .OLEO agricultural initiative for yard waste <br />abatement. <br /> <br />He has a B.A. in Anthro.Dolo,,v. .~. (University of Oreaon_ - 1965) and three ."'ears of <br />~aduate school (University of Oregon, University of .Mdnnesota). He moved to a <br />family fa~,'n'n in Rams:v in 1970. <br /> <br />He has been ce.'xified as a producer of ','egetables and herbs by Organic Growers <br />and Buyers Association of Minnesota since 1976. He is ~so a member of Land <br />Stewardship Project, Minnesota Food Association, International Alliance for <br />Sustainable Agriculture, .Metro Re,on Environment23 F_.x:iucaSon Cormmir.:r.e, and a <br />found/ag boar~ mem~r of Fmnkiin Avenue G~ieQ, <br /> <br /> <br />
