City of Ramsey

15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY. MINNESOTA 55303

(612) 427-1410

December 23, 1988

To Wh.om It May Concern:

As a Landfill Committee member and K.A.B. Government Operations
Subcommittee member, I have seen how technical and scientific information often
underlies policy and local impact discussions.

In my employment responsibilities as Tree Inspector, Fire Warden and Compost
Coordinator, I am responsible for delivering and providing access to biological,
technical and environmental education issues. Effective cooperation also depends
often on discerning trends and preventive maintenance.

The K.A.B. Committee seems committed to promotion of environmental education
as basic to recycling as an abatement measure. When discussing the K.A.B.
National Conference, I asked for their support for attending instead the 155th
meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science: 14-t9
January 1989, San Francisco Hilton.

Attached is cut up summary of relevant one half day conferences in the areas of
RISK, ECOLOGY & ECOSYSTEMS, AGRICULTURE and TECHNICAL
EDUCATION and ANTHROPOLOGY.

I have discussed the potential relevance of attending; and asked for the
Commission's endorsement of a request for $600.00 toward travel (round trip) and
$600.00 for 6 days of participation at this conference, and $75.00 for registration
for members.

Sincerely,

Bruce F. Bacon

BFB:ccr
