PC CASE # q <br /> <br />CONSIDER RATIFICATION OF THE APPOINTMENT OF <br /> A HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On September 28, 2004 staff was given authorization to hire a Human Resources <br />Technician. The position was advertised and approximately 40 applications were <br />received. Approximately ten applicants have been interviewed. <br /> <br />At the November 23, 2004 City Council meeting staff received authorization to hire a <br />Human Resources Technician at an hourly wage not to exceed $17.69 per hour. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee ratify the appointment of Colleen <br />Lasher as the City's Human Resources Technician at an hourly wage of $17.69. Ms. <br />Lasher has been working for the City one hour per day since December 1, 2004 in order <br />to get acclimated. Ms. Lasher will begin full-time employment with the City December <br />13, 2004. <br /> <br />This appointment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal and driver's <br />license background checks, reference checks, and passing a pre-employment physical and <br />drug screen. With Council approval, Ms Lasher's official start date will be December 13, <br />2004. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion recommending that the Personnel Committee ratify the appointment of Colleen <br />Lasher as a Human Resources Technician at an hourly wage of $17.69. This appointment <br />is contingent upon successful completion of criminal and driver's license background <br />checks, reference checks, and passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen. All <br />other personnel policies will apply normally.
