Principal Planner Trudgeon introduced <br />City consultant Len Levine. Mr. Levine gave a PowerPoint presentation to the Task <br />Force on his visit to several mixed-use developments in California: Old Ehn Village <br />near Petaluma, Aggie Village near Davis, Laguna West near Sacremento, Bay <br />Meadows near San Mateo, and The Crossings near Mountain View. All reviewed <br />projects had common transit-oriented and New Urbanist design elements. <br /> <br />There was a discussion of how these design elements can be applied to Ramsey's <br />cold-weather climate. Mr. Levine suggested the Task Force look to the examples they <br />saw on the trip to Chicago last year. Chair Hunter suggested the Task Force consider <br />thc possibility of including skyways in the project. Mr. Levine discussed the <br />underground tunnel system in downtown St. Paul, as well as emerging technology in <br />the area of GPS and transit scheduling. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon asked Mr. Levine about the current climate for <br />transportation projects in the state. Mr. Leveine suggested that while the current fiscal <br />situation was very difficult, there was considerable interest in the Northstar project. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Ramsey Town Center LLC Update. Principal Planner Trudgeon presented the latest <br />concept plan from Ramsey Town Center LLC, which identifies some preliminary <br />land uses. There was discussion of the visual quality of the development from the <br />perspective of Highway 10. Principal Planner Trudgeon said the latest plan doesn't <br />show much residential over retail, more horizontal that vertical mixed-use. <br />Councihnember Pearson said the Task Force needed to make sure they avoided the <br />appearance of a sea of parking lots from Highway 10.
