Citizen Input Councihnember Anderson stated that raising the violation to a misdemeanor seemed to be a bit steep. Jackie Peterson, 5310 - 173Ta Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated that the Ramsey Snowmobile Club was not notified of the meeting and it was their road clean-up night so they were unable to attend. Mayor Gamec noted that the ordinance was reviewed by the snowmobile club. Ms. Peterson inquired if the ordinance will unavoidably be adopted. Mayor Gamec replied that he personally will vote in favor of the ordinance. He explained that during the meeting with the snowmobile club most of the members were understanding with the changes. Sergeant Way did note their concerns and will be trying to make sure they can accommodate children activities. Ms. Peterson inquired if the public hearing was advertised. Mayor Gamec replied that the public hearing was advertised in the City's legal paper. He stated that he has pleaded for five years for people to be respectful when snowmobiling, but the complaints keep increasing. Councilmember Zimmerman recommended continuing the public hearing until the next City Council meeting. Mayor Gamec inquired if that would be appropriate. City Attorney Goodrich replied that he would recommend continuing the public hearing until the next meeting. Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if they should delay introduction of the ordinance until the next meeting. City Attorney Goodrich replied that the Council should not introduce the ordinance until all public input is received. Mayor Gamec requested that staff notify the snowmobile club of the continuation of the public hearing. Motion to Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to continue the public hearing until June 11, 2002. City Council/May 14, 2002 Page 6 of 36
