CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br />Protective Clothing Specifications <br /> <br />JACKET MATERIALS <br /> <br />1. Outside Shell <br /> <br />The basic fabric for the outer shell of the jacket shall be 60% <br />Kevlar, 40% PBI, inherently flame resistant Aramid, with an <br />approximate weight of 7.5 ounces per square yard. <br /> <br />2. Vapor Barrier and Thermal Liner <br /> <br />The vapor barrier material is Gor-Tex coated Nomex with all seams <br />taped for leakage. The thermal liner is a Nomex Aramid Face <br />cloth quilted to Nomex batting, weighting approximatley 9.5 <br />ounces per square yard. The vapor barrier is atitched with <br />Aramid thread'to the thermal liner material, attached to outer <br />shell with velcro and stitched at neck. Includes double layer of <br />Aramid at shoulders, elbows and cuffs. <br /> <br />3. Collar <br /> <br />Collar will have a height of 5" at the fronts, tapering to a <br />height of 4 1/2" at the back, with an impervious vapor barrier. <br />The collar shall be made of three layers of fabric, with F/R <br />corduroy next to the neck and PBI Kevlar on the back. The <br />contoured collar is to provide maximum protection and comfort <br />when wearing a helmet. The collar is attached to a specially <br />designed neckline, so when in closed position and/or when the <br />collar is up, there shall be no exposed throat areas. The <br />frontal closure strap will have a velcro type closure. <br /> <br />4. Storm Flap and Closure <br /> <br />· ~e storm flap shall be made of double thicknesses of PBI-Kev!ar <br />fabric (top and under) double stitched with reinforcements to the <br />coat. Front closure shall be the heavy duty emergency zipper <br />style with Ncrmex Aramid tape. Storm flap covering zipper shall <br />be 3 1/2" wide with velcro type closure. Emergency zipper shall <br />be non rusting. <br /> <br />5. Wristers <br /> <br />Each sleeve shall have a suitable and durable knit wrister of <br />t~omex/Spandex or Kevlar. Overhand wristlets with thumbhole. <br /> <br />6. Sleeves <br /> <br />Sleeves are full cut, set-in gusseted be!l~.s action sleeves of 2- <br />piece construction. Cuffs reinforced with double layer Aramid <br /> <br /> <br />
