landfill operation would consist of 13 acres with 23 cells measuring 500
feet long, 23 feet wide and 5 feet deep. The burying process would be done
in the fall of each year and it. would take a few weeks. The operation must
remain 6 feet above the water table; the by-products would then be covered
with 6 inches of temporary cover and final cover would be 2 feet thick.
Bladholm estimates that there will be a need to bury 45,000 cubic yards of
concrete by-products over the year~. When completed, the landfill
operation will have raised the surface 4 feet; the surface will remain flat
and ~erves as an excellent foundation for future uses. The issue of water
quality was researched and after 23 years of filling, there will be little
or no effect on the local groundwater.

Commissioner Terry inquired if Bladholm will be bringing waste products
from their other operations to the facility in Ramsey.

Mr. Thornton- Replied that Bladholm will not transport by-products from
other sites onto the Ramsey site for landfilling as the cement beams are
very difficult to transport. An on-site landfill is critical to a
successful producer of concrete products. Mr. Thornton noted that from a
land use point of view, the proposed landfill is compatible with airport
zoning.

ADJOURNMENT

The consensus of those present was to adjourn the public hearing at 8:30
p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sylvia Fr olik
Secretary

Merland Otto
Acting Zoning Administrator

?!an~zng & Zoning C~missicn Public

Fage 2 of 2
