! 0) Consider Authorizing a COLA for Non-Union Employees for 2005 <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed advised this case is the consideration of a cost of living <br />increase for non-union employees. Staff recommends the same increase as for union <br />employees. The Personnel Committee.recommended approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee for Case Nos. 1 through 10 and to: <br /> · Adopt Resolution #04-12-376 to grant authorization to immediately <br /> <br />ratify the <br /> <br /> begin the <br /> recruitment process for an Assistant Finance Officer, Public Works Maintenance <br /> Workers (2), Building Inspectors (2), Patrol Officer, Fire Secretary (part-time), and <br /> other increases in personnel as indicated in the 2005 budget <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-377 to grant authorization to hire a patrol officer at an hourly <br /> wage not to exceed $21.65. The selected individual will begin employment on or after <br /> January 3, 2005 and the individual's name will be presented to the City Council for <br /> ratification at the January 11, 2005 City Council meeting. This appointment will be <br /> contingent upon successful comPletion of criminal and driver's license background <br /> checks, reference cheeks, and passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen. All <br /> other personnel policies will apply normally. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-378 to create a Utilities Division by moving two Maintenance <br /> Workers from their current division(s) to the newly created Utilities Division, create a <br /> part-time Fire Secretary position, promote the current Fire Inspector to Fire Marshall, <br /> promote the current Assistant Community Development Director to Director and <br /> reclassify the current Community Development Director to Assistant Community <br /> Development Director/HRA Executive Director, move the TIF Specialist from the <br /> Finance Department to the Community Development Department, create an Assistant <br /> Finance Officer position. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-379 to ratify the appointment of Colleen Lasher as a Human <br /> Resources Technician at an hourly wage of $17.69. This appointment is contingent <br /> upon successful completion of criminal and driver's license background checks, <br /> reference checks, and passing a:.pre-employment physical and drug screen. All other <br /> personnel policies will apply normally. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-380 to recommend Nick Maras for the position of Public <br /> Works Mechanic at a starting wage of $19.02/hr, plus benefits contingent upon <br /> successful completion of criminal background and reference checks, a pre-employment <br /> physical, and a drug screen. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-381 ending the probationary period for Mr. Berge and <br /> granting status as a full-time regular Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-382 ending the probationary period for Mr. Busch and <br /> granting status as a full-time regular Information Technology Manager. <br />· Adopt Resolution #04-12-383 ending the probationary period for Mr. Madsen and <br /> gl:anting status as a full-time Engineering Technician II. <br /> <br />City Council/December 14, 2004 <br /> Page 14 of 33 <br /> <br /> <br />
