3) Update on the Speed Study on CSAH 5 between TH 47 and 167th Avenue Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained there was a request for a speed study on CSAH 5 that was forwarded to MnDOT. There was some question of the validity of the study since it was reported in July, which is not:during the school session. It was found after further review that the study was completed in October and April. However, after even further review it was found that one of the dates the speed study was conducted in front of Ramsey Elementary School was on MEA weekend. The motion of the Public Works Committee was to table the speed study so a representative of MnDOT could be present to explain how speed studies are done and what the results :indicate as far as a request for speed limit reductions. This will come back in a work session sometime in January or February. Motion by Councilmember Elvig, Seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 3 and table the speed study on CSAH 5 between TH 47 and 167th Avenue, and to invite a representative of MnDOT to attend a meeting to discuss the issue. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman, Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, Cook, and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Strommen. 4) Review the Warning Sign Placement at 169o' Avenue and Neon Street Assistant Public Works Director Olson stated the City had received a request from a resident to put up some speed advisory plates and chevrons warning people of a turn coming up in the road in his neighborhood. There was a reduction in traffic speeds after the signs were posted, but staff does not feel that is how the situation will remain. The Public Works Committee made a motion to table further action on the removal of the chevrons until May of next year to get a more stable speed study, as well as notify some of the neighborhood because there have been some complaints about what the chevrons look like. It is being recommended that action on this be tabled until the May Public Works Committee. Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 4 and table any further action on thc chew'ons placed at the area of 169thAvenue and Neon Street until the May Public Works Committee meeting, and that the Committee review the situation at that time.
