Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated his support for a fee of $250 and suggested <br />staff track the actual costs so a recommendation can be considered next year when the fees are <br />again considered. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to adopt Ordinance <br />#02-21 Amending Chapter 7 of the City Code, adding section 7.86 entitled "Sale of Fire Works" <br />as amended in Subdivision 6 related to the fee schedule. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Kurak suggested the Public Safety Board be involved to <br />draft verbiage addressing additional fireworks usage in case the Legislature decided to make it <br />more lenient. She requested permission to work with the Public Safety Board to draft that <br />language. Mayor Gamec stated he would not object to that suggestion. Councilmember <br />Anderson stated she would not want to encourage the State to be more lenient with fireworks. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was performed by the Recording Secretary: <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmennan aye <br />Councihnember Kurak aye <br />Councihnember Anderson aye <br />Councihnember Hendriksen aye <br />Mayor Gamec aye <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to adopt Resolution <br />#02-06-143 Amending 2002 Schedule of Rates and Charges, as amended to reflect a fee of $250. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Hendriksen, Anderson, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #12: Report from Public Works Committee <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on May 21, 2002, to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />A Discussion of Dirt versus Paved Streets <br />Councilmember Zimmerman reviewed the Public Works Committee recommendation <br />that the City Council direct the Engineering Department to prepare feasibility studies to <br />rebuild each of the remaining dirt streets in the City utilizing a City contribution of 50% <br />of the total project cost which is comparable to the paved street maintenance program. <br />Staff would also address drainage issues including a separate cost for blacktop for <br />Council review. <br /> <br />City Council/June 11, 2002 <br />Page 18 of 30 <br /> <br /> <br />
