City Engineer Jankowski stated the test wells were sealed once the well was drilled.

Mr. Robertson stated some communities choose to put down some test wells upstream or
production wells to monitor the water quality.

Counci hnember Hendriksen stated that will show what is at the level of the aquifer but he wants
to know if there is a way to find out what will be happening with the water supply in the future.

Mr. Robertson stated the only way is to install monitoring wells in the wellhead protection area
up gradient of the production wells but that comes at a significant cost, although is less than a
production well. He stated he is not aware of a monitoring network in place at this time. Mr.
Robertson stated monitoring systems around areas such as gas stations that have experienced a
leak are generally at a more shallow depth.

Councilmember Anderson noted this only pertains to residents on City water but reasonably
priced test kits are available at City Hall for residents with private wells.

City Engineer Jankowski stated it is recommended that private wells be tested at least once a
year.

Mayor Gamec thanked Mr. Robertson for the presentation.

CITIZEN INPUT

Nolle.

APPROVE AGENDA

City Administrator Norman requested that Consent Agenda Item 6, Authorization to Apply for
Livable Colnlnunities Demonstration Account (LDA) Grant, be removed and considered as Case
#5.
