CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at the <br />Ramsey Fire Station Number II, 15050 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan E. Anderson <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br />Principal City Engineer Brian Olson <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Associate Planner Megan Wald <br />Interim Police Chief Jim Way <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:08 p.m. and called <br />upon Boy Scout Troop #203 to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced Todd Cook, David Elvig, A1 Pearson and Sara Strommen were the <br />newly elected members to the City Council. <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton, 6615 Highway #10 NW, Ramsey, stated that the smell from the blacktop plant is <br />still very bad. He explained that he has done some research on the issue and found that it can <br />cause breathing problems with some of the long-term affects being lung disease, heart disease, <br />and possibly cancer. He stated that he would like to know what the Council is going to do about <br />the problem. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that staff has been in contact with the MPCA and they will be reviewing <br />their permit and reporting back to the City. He explained that if there are violations of the <br />MPCA rules they will inform the City and those issues will be addressed. <br /> <br />Mr. Hamilton invited the Council to visit his home to see what he has to deal with. <br /> <br />City Council/November 12, 2002 <br /> Page 2 of 22 <br /> <br /> <br />
