The consensus of the EDA was to direct staff to work with Town Center LLC to determine
location options for old town hall within Town Center and other areas within the City. Staff is
also to begin discussions with Landmark Community Bank and Children's World to determine
their interest in the property.

Case #2: Initiate Awards

Associate Planner Wald stated that the EDA previously discussed initiating various business
awards besides just the annual ,Business of the Year award. Based on that discussion staff was
suggesting initiating an annual Business Community Involvement and Business Community
Pride award

Member Strommen questioned what staff envisioned as criteria for the Community Pride award.

Associate Planner Wald explained that she envisioned the award going to a business that
promotes the City of Ramsey and supports local events and organizations.

Member Kiefer suggested that the Community Involvement award be given out during the Happy
Days event and the Community Pride award at the 4th of July celebration.

Associate Planner Wald noted that the 4th of July event is not City sponsored.

Member Kurak stated that she thought the Festival of Lights was a great idea, but they should
probably wait until there are more businesses located in Ramsey.

Vice Chairperson Steffen stated that he thought the Community Involvement award and
Community Pride award should be combined into one.

TIF Specialist Sullivan inquired if businesses would nominate other businesses for the award.

Associate Planner Wald replied that she thoUght she would work with the Rotary or Lions Club
on determining candidates for the award.

Member Kiefer suggested that staff also receive input from the School and Happy Days
Committee since they work closely with some of the local businesses.

Member LeTourneau stated that they need to clearly define the criteria for the award so they can
identify the differences between Community Involvement and Business of the Year.

Consensus was to direct staff to define criteria for both the Community Involvement Award and
Business of the Year award.

Economic Development Authority April 19, 2004
Page 4 of 10
