City of V__<
RAMSEY
January 30, 2018
Minnesota Housing Finance Agency
Attn: Commission Tingerthal
400 Sibley Street, Suite 300
Saint Paul, MN 55101-1998
Dear Commissioner Tingerthal:
7550 Sunward l)riye N' G' - Rainy MN 55303
City Hall: 763.427.1410 . Fax: 763.427.5545
www.cityofra msey, ¢m
On behalf of the City of Ramsey, we are excited to extend a letter of support for Aeon for Phase Two of the Greenway
Terrace Project. Aeon is proposing an apartment building located in The CDR, a transit -oriented development along the
Northstar Commuter Rail. Aeon has chosen a site that is in alignment with our future land use plans for cur downtown
area and meets the goals and plans of The COR Interim Development Plan.
The City Council has indicated support for the project by approving Phase One of the Greenway Terrace Project and by
approving the City's Housing Plan, which seeks to provide a variety of housing options for all residents at various stages
of life and income levels. We want to encourage the existing and future residents of Ramsey to stay here throughout
their lives — and we believe a balanced housing supply is a key piece of achieving that goal.
As we work on our Comprehensive Plan Update for 2040, affordable, workforce housing is one of our top priorities. By
2040, the Metropolitan Council has determined that Ramsey will need approximately 500 additional affordable units.
The City of Ramsey, both Staff and City Council, are supportive of this project, as it will help us achieve our goals of
providing housing options for all types of residents.
The City of Ramsey Community Development Department is fully supportive of this project. It fits within the goals and
plans for our City and will benefit the community. Please let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to a
successful Aeor application and are committed to continuing our partnerships with organizations such as MHFA to help
us reach our common goals,
Sincerely,
C,P(v N)19
Chloe McGuire Brigl
City Planner, City of Ramsey
CMcGuire@CityofRamsey,cam
763.433.9821
cc: Tim Gledhill, Community Development Director
Chris Anderson, City Planner
It is orn. palsrion to work together to responsiblygroru orrr roWrirraarri
and to provide r rtnlity, cost-cfertitve, and t rierltgovernment tervieer.
