Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson introduced the City's new Human Resources Technician <br />Colleen Lasher. She stated Ms. Lasher is a great addition to the Human Resources Division and <br />is a resident of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />1) Fire Officer Selections for Year 2005 <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler indicated the Fire Department Officers group is made up of the <br />following positions: · Fire Chief <br /> · Assistant Fire Chief(2) <br /> Captains (2) <br /> · Lieutenants (4 two additional in 2005) <br /> · Training Officer (1) <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler explained as in the past the paid on-call command positions <br />(Assistant Chiefs, Captains and Lieutenants) carry a two-year term, with hatfthe group available <br />for application each year. The Training Officer term is one year. He explained for the officer <br />terln of 2005/2006 the following positions were open for application: <br /> · Assistant Chief#3 <br /> · Captain#II <br /> · Lieutenant #1, 3, 4 <br /> · Training Officer <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler indicated interviews were conducted with the Fire Chief and the <br />City Administrator has approved the list of recommendations. Each position can'ies both <br />administrative and command responsibilities. The terms of the officers are alternated which <br />allows both the opportunity for change and a level of stability within the ranks. With the two <br />new lieutenant positions a three-year term will likely need to be created. <br /> <br />Motion by Councitmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case 1 and accept the Fire Chief's and City <br />Administrator's recommendation of Fire Department Officers for 2005. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec thanked the Fire Department and the Police Department for their handling of the <br />recent explosion tragedy in the City. He stated there were several areas that responded and all of <br />them, both police and fire departments, said the situation was handled very professionally and <br /> <br />City Council/January 11, 2005 <br /> Page 7 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
