Clms Anderson
January 21, 2005
Page 2

If the new house can't meet required structure setbacks from the ordinary high water
level (OHW) and bluff line, then no part of the structures, including open decks,
should be closer to the ordinary high water level, of the river than the average of the
two adjacent structures. This distance will ensure that the view of the river fQr the
existing tmuses will not be diminished.

A buffer with native vegetation should be retained or established in the area within 40
feet of the "Top of Bank" or b!uffline. No mowing or intensive vegetation
management should take place in this area, alttxough paths ,,-e ~,-* ,,

Runoff from rooftops, driveways, and other impervious surfaces sho'uld be minimized
with grading and landscaping that allows stormwater to infiltrate into the soil.
Vegetated swales and rain gardens are examples.

These suggestions will help mitigate the effects of the multiple' variances.

If you have any ~'urther questions, please' feel fi-ee to contact me at 651-772-7923.

Sincerely,

c: Sandy Fecht, MNRRA Hydrologist
