Competitive Economy Strategies <br />The following list of strategies have been identified to achieve this competitive economy <br />goal and related objectives: <br />Identify and pursue the level of increased funding needed to create a multimodal <br />transportation system that is safe, well maintained, offers modal choices, manages <br />and eases congestion, provides reliable access to jobs and opportunities, facilitates <br />the shipping of freight, connects and enhances communities, and shares benefits <br />and impacts equitably among all communities and users; and <br />Invest in regional transit and bicycle and pedestrian facilities that improve <br />connections to jobs and opportunity, promote economic development, and <br />attract and retain businesses and workers in the county on the established transit <br />corridors. <br />2.5 GOAL 5: HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT Air <br />The County seeks to advance equity and contribute to communities' livability and <br />sustainabilitywhile protecting the natural, cultural, and developed environments. <br />Healthy Environment ObjectivesAr <br />With this broad, long-term goal in mind, the County has identified the following objectives <br />to help realize this healthy environm-`itgoal by2040: <br />Reduce transportation-r - d air a sions; <br />Reduce impacts o `transportation construction and operations on the natural, <br />cultural, and developed environments; and <br />Increase the availability of transit, bicycling, and walking to encourage healthy <br />communities and active car -free lifestyles. <br />Construction Zone on Highway 10 in Ramsey (Source: Carlos Gonzalez) <br />ANOKA COUNTY 2040 TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE I CHAPTER 2 -TRANSPORTATION GOALS <br />14 <br />
