Counci hnember Elvig commented there are ~orn~ areas through the north that would be fantastic <br />for greenspace and should be studied. <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook noted the City does have a more comprehensive greenspace plan that <br />should be overlaid and studied with this. : <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen noted ,this information shows the greenway corridor and does not take <br />into account open space planning, <br /> <br />Mt'. Gordon indicated there are. a lot of d0¢uments that need to be part of this. Tonight's <br />discussion will include a broader idiscusgiOn 0fth¢ principles. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig indicated the BoY Scout property will not be available for redevelopment, <br />and he does not want something distributed tfiat Would upset people. <br /> <br />Community Development Director TrudgeOn e>cplained staff understands the intention regarding <br />the Boy Scout property, but the land must at least be identified on the maps. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook noted the Boy Scout prOperty is identified as public land <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon reviewed the following information: <br /> <br /> · Observations <br /> · Urban Growth Plan Development Scenario "A" Low Density Infill <br /> · Urban Growth Plan Development scenario "B" Suburban Retrofit <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson suggested when dealing with plans on the borders of the City that <br />adjoining governmental units are asked about their thoughts. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented on the increased develOpment nodes in Bums. He noted Bums is now <br />looking at two developments with a common septic system. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig indicated some of the council members have a conflict with higher density <br />around the golf course according to what has been expressed by constituents. The residents <br />seemed to be open to more density around the gplf course, and possibly some senior duplexes, <br />but the majority of the people around that areaiwere opposed to high density. He stated different <br />approaches will need to be considered When diSCussing density and greenspace. Some of the <br />housing may have to be compressed to make the greenspace available. He noted Councilmember <br />Cook had discussed executive homes on smaller lots. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook explained there is a lot of new lifestyle housing and a generation that does <br />not want to maintain their yards. <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon reviewed the following informatiOn: <br /> <br />City COunc!l/Ja~nuary 4, 2005 <br /> Page 4:of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
