Assistant Public Works Director Olson noted this was a good point.

Motion by Commissioner Shryock to accept $1,800 per lot and $475 trail'fee and also the 60.73
feet that runs along Armstrong as required trail easement.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson asked if it was past precedent that they require a traiI:
corridor along county roads or that trails must be constructed along major roadways.

Chairperson Johns was not sure.

Commissioner Shryock stated a lot of times this comes in conjunction with construction of the
roadway.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson recalled there was a subdivision that they did not require
a trail corridor on a one or two lot subdivision in Rogers Lake.

Commissioner Olds recalled if there is any development or new platting, they install a trail
corridor if it abuts and existing roadway, that is set aside for trail development at some point in
the future. The trail does not need to be built, but the easement needs to be there.

Chairperson Johns noted they are trying to get to Tiger Street.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson stated he was a little confused because he knew along the
trunk highway, it requires the corridor but there were other developments that required a trail but
not a corridor.

Comm/ssioner Shryock staied in certain areas they are concentrating on putting trails on certain
sides of the roads and since she has been on the Commission they have required this.

Chairperson Johns explained that this isthe only reason why the corridor is happening along
Hwy 47.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson inquired if this was past precedent to have a corridor.
along county roads or rather along State higlxway roads.

Commissioner Lehman asked if theyshould table this item until next month to get additional
information regarding this.

Commissioner Olds noted they want to preserve that sixty-one feet so they do not need to go
back to the property owner for permission to get a trail built along Armstrong Bonlevard.

Commissioner Shryock stated she did not think this was a question of if they wanted to preserve
this area, they needed to. The question is how much is required for the width of the corridor they
will be asking for.

Park and Recreation Commission/November 13, 2003
Page 6 of 11
