JOINT CITY COUNCIL & PLANNING <br />COMMISSION WORK SESSION <br />Topic Report: Compreliensive Plan iAmendment <br /> <br />By: Patrick Trudgeon, Community DeveloPment Director <br /> Megan Wald, Associate Planner <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City initiated Comprehensive Plan Amendment process continues to move forward. <br />City Staff would like to use the February 24th work session to update the City Council <br />and Planning Commission on .the overall progress of the amendment. Changes to the <br />process may be necessary due to furthe/' information from the Metropolitan Council and <br />the submittal of Comprehensive Plan Amendment applications by Oakwood Land <br />Development. Below is a brief listing ~of previous meetings held regarding the <br />Comprehensive Plan update: <br /> <br />Recap <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />September 23, 2004 - Held first public open house meeting <br /> <br />January 4, 2005 - Draft AlternatiVe Development Scenarios reviewed by the City <br />Council and Planning COmmissiOn <br /> (a) The City Council and Planning Commission provided staff and the <br /> consultant comments and direction related to the three draft alternative <br /> deVelopment' scenarioS, which are outlined as follows <br /> <br /> Look at development scenarios north of Trott Brook <br />· Look.at how to develop Central Rural Reserve Area <br />· Begin completing analysis on desired greenway/open space <br /> corridors throughout the City. <br /> Look at appropriate commercial nodes throughout the City <br />· Take into consideration appropriate land uses and setbacks <br /> along major arterial roadways <br />· Look at incentive/density transfer options adjacent to <br /> important greenway corridors <br /> <br />The City Council and the Planning Commission scheduled a joint work <br />session for February 24, 2005 to review revised development scenarios based <br />on discussion and direction provided to staff and HKGI at the January 4, 2005 <br />joint work session. <br /> <br /> <br />
