Fire Inspections/Prevention <br /> <br />2004 saw the Fire Inspector switch to 100% fire related activity. (Formally split <br />with building inspections) Much activity throughout the year including the <br />adoption of 1306 amendment t° the building code requiring sprinklers in some <br />new construction. <br /> <br />2005 will see the current Fire Inspector be promoted to Fire Marshal to allow for <br />less supervised day to day Work actiVity. <br /> <br />Duty Officer Response <br /> <br />In late 2004 the Fire Department began a process of sending a Duty Officer to <br />some calls not requiring a full response. These types of calls include: illegal <br />burns, trouble with smoke detectors, some alarm calls, CO (carbon monoxide) <br />detectors, ect. The plan is to continue to respond to our residents needs but with <br />a reduced response, which will assist in maintaining responsible operating costs. <br /> <br />New 800 Mega Hertz Radio System <br /> <br />New infrastructure county,wide Was put in place throughout 2004 and system <br />went operational in October; By the end of the year all new radios were received <br />and installed. Some minor issues remainr to be corrected. <br /> <br />Fire Secretary Position <br /> <br />The 2005 budget reflects the hiring of a part-time (20 hrs per week) Fire <br />Department Secretary. This position will office out of Fire Station #1 until a time <br />that allows to move to the new Municipal:Center, <br /> <br /> <br />
