Fire Inspections/Prevention

2004 saw the Fire Inspector switch to 100% fire related activity. (Formally split
with building inspections) Much activity throughout the year including the
adoption of 1306 amendment t° the building code requiring sprinklers in some
new construction.

2005 will see the current Fire Inspector be promoted to Fire Marshal to allow for
less supervised day to day Work actiVity.

Duty Officer Response

In late 2004 the Fire Department began a process of sending a Duty Officer to
some calls not requiring a full response. These types of calls include: illegal
burns, trouble with smoke detectors, some alarm calls, CO (carbon monoxide)
detectors, ect. The plan is to continue to respond to our residents needs but with
a reduced response, which will assist in maintaining responsible operating costs.

New 800 Mega Hertz Radio System

New infrastructure county, wide Was put in place throughout 2004 and system
went operational in October; By the end of the year all new radios were received
and installed. Some minor issues remainr to be corrected.

Fire Secretary Position

The 2005 budget reflects the hiring of a part-time (20 hrs per week) Fire
Department Secretary. This position will office out of Fire Station #1 until a time
that allows to move to the new Municipal:Center,
