Training

The Fire Department continues to train on an aggressive schedule. Each month
has training sessions including two fire related, one medical related, one
business meeting and one officers meeting. On months that have five
Wednesdays (four times per year), a'major maintenance session is held.
The training schedule is designed to meet all the requirements of OSHA and
NFPA, while keeping the Ramsey Firefighter's skills sharp and up to date with
what is happening in our city.

Firefighter Staff

2004 brought six new firefighter recruits to join the department. Although one
decided to not stay with the dept, the other five are of excellent caliber and will no
doubt make great firefighters for the CitYof Ramsey. The group is scheduled to
finish their minimum training requirements by May 2005.

The current roster stands at 35, staff plans on another recruitment activity this
spring, keeping in mind the goal is 40 firefighters evenly distributed between the
2 existing stations.

Fire Department Fleet

Listed below are the current apparatus :and specifications of each:

Vehicle Pump Capacity On-Board Water # of Staff Carried
1989 Engine #1 12,50 gpm 1000 gallons 6
1999 Engine #2 15.r00 gpm 1000 gallons 6
1989 Tanker #1 500 gpm 1850 gallons 3
1994 Tanker #2 n/a 3000 gallons 2
2003 Ladder #1 1500 gpm 300 gallons 6
2002 Rescue #1 n/a n/a 5
2004 Rescue #2 "n/a n/a 5
1989 Grass #1' NOt Rated 200 gallons 3
2003 Grass #2 Not Rated 225 gallons 3
1998 Chief's n/a n/a 2
Vehicle :
2002 Fire Marshal n/a n/a 2
Vehicle
2003 SCBA n/a n/a n/a
Trailer
Rescue Boat n/a n/a 8

*Slide in pump and water ta~k unit is scheduled for replacement in 2005
