C°I <br /> <br />Ramsey Fire Department <br />Year End Report 2004 <br /> <br />Incident Calls <br /> <br />Activity in 2004 reached a record level of emergency responses at 396. This <br />comes after three somewhat lower levels of incident response from 2001-2003 <br />(320-318-320 respectively).: Notable increases include alarm calls which in 2004 <br />made up almost 22% of the years activity, second only to Personal Injury <br />Accidents which made up 28%. Historically personal injury accidents make up <br />about 30-35% of the departments total response. <br /> <br />There were eight major structure fires in Ramsey in 2004. This number <br />historically varies between five and fifteen. <br /> <br />2004 was also the first complete year that Ramsey Fire has covered the western <br />half of Burns Township. The 396 total oalls include 26 calls to Burns Township, <br />although several other responses were' made to Burns as mutual aid to assist <br />Oak Grove with coverage on the eastern' half. <br /> <br />Enclosed are charts visually displaying the incident frequency, and the <br />emergency response broken down by incident type. <br /> <br />ISO (Insurance Service Offices) Rating Change <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey has a split rating, currently a 6 and 9. The split rating <br />recognizes the areas of Ramsey that are within 1000 ft of a fire hydrant (urban) <br />and those not (rural). Prior to evaluation, the urban area was a class 6 with the <br />rural a class 9. ~ <br /> <br />In June of 2004 the City of Ramsey went through an intensive evaluation of the <br />Fire Departments equipment, training, staff makeup and capabilities. Also <br />evaluated was the cities water utility which includes capabilities (flows and <br />pressures) and maintenance procedures~ <br /> <br />The reward of the evaluation wasthe cities insurance rating was lowered to a 5 <br />in the urban area and a 7 for rural. This change will mean immediate savings <br />on homeowners and business insurance :premiums. The change takes effect <br />February 1, 2005. <br /> <br /> <br />
