Nelson,AsSiStant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br />As a part of the 2005 budget! process, staffi discussed with Council the need to evaluate <br />job descriptions for a number!of City pbSitions. Staff included in the 2005 budget, which <br />was approved at the regular meeting of thc iCity Council on December 1 nth, 2004, £unds <br />to cover the costs of potentigli pay scal~ adjgstments for these positions. These positions <br />include: Police captain, Zoning/Recy¢finglCoordinator, Department Secretary, Records <br />Management Clerk, and Fir~ :Marshal.i The 'Fire Marshal is a new title for the existing <br />Fire Inspector pos!tion. A}['~p°siti°n~ iwitir thc exception of the Fire Marshal were <br />completed at the regular meeting of laiaharY 11, 2005. Staff has since completed a study <br />of the Fire Marshal position, The posifior~ of Fire Inspector is not funded to be filled as a <br />part of the 2005 budget. : <br />Staff has updated the job deSCription for:thO iFire Marshal position identified above and <br />evaluated it for points assoei~ited iwith:pay equity. Staff has also completed an analysis <br />for the comparable pay scale in the Sthntor/6 Group Cities Report as well as relational <br />pay within the City of RamseY organization.: <br />Staff is recommending the pay scale listed below for the Fire Marshal position: <br />POSITION CU~NT RANGEI: PROPOSED RANGE <br /> OF FI~ INSPECTOR OF FIRE MARSHAL <br />Fire Marshal $21.91 - $27.38 per hour $23.46 - $30.50 per hour <br /> <br />The adjustment for the Fire Marshal position is reflective of the market for it's <br />classification of a municipal Position, ~ The :,proposed pay scale change would be retro- <br />active to 01/01/2005.
