P12

COHPANY

February 22, 2005

Mr. Jim Norman, City Administrator
Ms. Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator

Dear Jim and Heidi:

Attached is a draft copy of the Sunm'tary of Key Observations and Conclusions
made by the participants at the February 9-10 City Leadership Workshop. I would
appreciate your reviewing this copy and letting me 303~986-8487 or
carlneu@.mindspring.com, or my executive assistant, Sharon Wallin, 303-235-0823 or
Sharon(~.executivesupportsmwices:net, know of any changes you would desire prior to
your duplicating and distributing this document to appropriate parties.

I want to commend everyone, council and management team, who participated in
this workshop. Not only did they work hard, but they have come rapidly to appreciate the
significant gains made during 2004 in terms of clarity of leadership and quality of the
council-staff working relationships within the partnership that exists between the two
groups. As someone noted during the workshop, the evident presence of hum'or this year
is a significant indicator of the trust, respect, and sheer joy and fun the people both on
council and staff have in both their relationships and working with each other. 2005 and
2006 provide an olJportunity to accelerate the gains that have been made during 2004 and
position the city and municipal organization for a highly-productive, and.exciting, future.
I congratulate alt of you on the progress you have made together.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with the City of Ramsey again.

Sincerely,

Carl H. Neu, Jr.

CHN/sw

Enclosure
