2001 Comprehensive Plan
Amended February 26, 2002

10. Summary of the forces that have shaped the community
Today Ramsey is a community that has been shaped by many forces. Some
forces are a result of nature and some forces are a result of urbanization. Natural
forces include the glacial formations, the landscape, the Mississippi River, the
Rum River, the Anoka Sand Plain, and the watersheds and the ditches that drain
them. The forces resulting from urbanization that have given Ramsey its
physical shape include the suburban residential housing demand (large lots),
MUSA line, zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations, Trunk Highways 10
and 47, and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

All of the forces summarized above have made Ramsey the community that it is
today and will continue to shape the City of Ramsey well into the future.

2001 Ramsey Comprehensive Plan
Amended February 26, 2002

Page lll- 7
