The City
has adopted an Ordinance that will create a comprehensive septic system management and
maintenance program within the City of Ramsey. This program will contain the following
components:

The City will require the pumping/cleaning of septic systems every three years unless an
inspection shows that the pumping/cleaning is unnecessary. Property owners will receive
mailed notice every three years informing them of this requirement. If the property owner
fails to comply, the City will order the pumping/cleaning of the septic system at the
property owner's cost. It is expected that 1/3 of the residents with septic systems each
year will be required to have their septic systems pumped/cleaned each year.

The City will create and maintain a database regarding existing septic systems.

2001 Ramsey Comprehensive Plan
Amended February 26, 2002

Page XVI-3
