PROJECT QUANTITIES AND coS~S
Table 1 includes a listing of street lengths :and pavement areas for each crack seal/sealcoat
project. Estimates are also provided for crack filling material application, rates. Both the
sealcoating and crack filling operation: will !be applied, by a contractor selected through the
competitive bidding process. PreviOus years low bid and estimated 2004 unit prices for
sealcoating and crack filling are as shown below:

Program '
2001 Actual
2002 Actual
2003 Actual
2004 Actual
2005 Estimate

!S~ale°ating Crack Filling
S/Sq. The pavement distress on these proposed overlay projects indicate that
additional pavement ~strength is 'needed. Phcr to the overlay,. failed areas will be removed and
patched by City forces. The number Of tons required for street patching is estimated on an
individual project basis. The rate charged for patching will be $200 per'ton~of bituminous
material which includes labor. :The existing p~ivement will be tack coated and. a machine laid one
and one-half inch overlay will be placed.: Existing driveways will be feathered to match the new
pavement along pavements with no curbS. The overlay will be shouldered with topsoil and
seeded to eliminate the drop off atthe Pavement edge formed by the overlay. Tables 3 and 4
contain overlay project quantifies and cOsts. Previous years low bid and estimated 2004 unit
prices for overlays are shown below.

Program

2000 Actual
2001 Actual
2002 Actual
2004 Actual
2005 Estimated

Overlay
S/Ton ..

$26.25
$27.25 ·
$31.61
$28'.03
$34.00

Other overlay project costs element i~clUde the milling of existing bituminous pavement. This
milling allows the new overIay tO blend into the adjacent pavement with a neat even seam. The
cost o[' pavement milling is estimated at $1'0 per square yard. Where no curbs are present,
shouldering as described above will be necessary at an estimated cost of 0.65 per centerline foot.
