Public Works Director Kapler responded in the affirmative. He explained this position would be <br />comparative to a sergeant position, although there would be no officers reporting to him. There <br />is a lot of gray area in code enforcement and good people are needed to decipher the code. <br /> <br />Counci hnember Cool( asked if this reclassification will free Public Works Director Kapler up for <br />other duties. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler responded in the affirmative. He noted shortly the Persmmel <br />Committee will be considering the half time fire secretary, which will free up time for both the <br />Fire Marshal and himself. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to recommend that the <br />City Council authorize reclassifying the Fire InsPector position to Fire Marshal, and to attthofize <br />the following pay scale for the Fire Marshal position: <br /> <br />Position <br />Fire Marshal <br /> <br />Current RBnge of Fire Inspector <br />$21.91 - $27.38 per hour <br /> <br />Proposed Range of Fire Marshal <br />$23.46 - $30.50 per hour <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: ChairperSon Cook, and Councilmembers Jeffrey and Pearson. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Health Insurance Contributions for LELS Patrol Members <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson reviewed that at the regular Council meeting of January 25, <br />2005; staff presented a case for: consideration of the City's health insurance contribution for <br />AFSCME and non-union personnel. Staff indicated that negotiations with the City's LELS <br />Patrol and tile new LELS Sergeants unit were on going. She explained staff has reached <br />agreement with the LELS Sergeants unit on their new contract which includes the same health <br />insurance contribution approved for AFSCME and non-union personnel that was approved by <br />Council at the January 25th regular meeting aS $630.00 for family coverage and $380.17 for <br />single 100% plan and $352.09 for single 90/10% plan. Staff is recommending approval of the <br />same contribution for LELS Patrol members. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson advised staff is requesting City Council approval of the <br />following provisions: : <br /> <br />hlsnl-allce: <br /> <br />Single: $380.17 (100% Plan) $352.09 (90/I0% Plan) <br />Family: $630.00 <br /> <br />Counci hnember Pearson questioned if this contribution amount is the same as the amount agreed <br />upon for tile other units. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson resPonded in the affirmative. <br /> <br />Personnel committee/February 22, 2005 <br /> Page 3,of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
