Coordinator Anderson stated that the point of a guidebook is to simplify scientific data. Chairperson McDilda stated that he wouldn't downplay technical information in the Tree Book. He stated that he hoped the DNR has published some information on wetlands. Board Member Max stated that the same database used for the Tree Book will be used for a web based information center for landscape architects. He stated that will be a nice way to avoid the cost of a reprint of the Tree Book. Board Member Freeburg asked if Coordinator Anderson was aware of other cities that had a wetland buffer book. Coordinator Anderson stated that he was not aware of any city, but will make some calls to try to find out. Chairperson McDilda suggested that a place to start would be to look at how the Tree Book is laid out, and research how a wetland buffer book could be laid out in a similar manner. Coordinator Anderson stated that there would have to be some difference. Board Member Max suggested making the wetland buffer book be more like a field guide. Chairperson McDilda stated that the EPB should have a discussion about what the overall objective should be for the wetland buffer book. He stated that the book should be more about an awareness of what wetlands are. Coordinator Anderson stated that there should be a description of wetlands. Board Member Sibilski asked if the book should highlight requirements of the ordinance. Chairperson McDilda stated that ordinances were stayed away from in the Tree Book. Coordinator Anderson stated that there may be merit to some type of a summary that highlights definitions of Manage 1,2,3, & Preserve requirements. Board Member Sibilski concurred that there should be definitions of Manage areas. Chairperson McDilda recommended that the next meeting be spent on the wetland buffer book.
