<br />Chairperson McDilda suggested that EPB members rough out what is to be included at <br />the next meeting, and outline assignments. <br /> <br />Board Member Bentz asked to consider who the intended audience for the wetland guide <br />book would be. He stated that he could only believe that developers or property owners <br />would be interested. <br /> <br />Coordinator Anderson responded that once some developments come through, they will <br />have to abide by the buffer regulations. It would also be ideal to have this booklet <br />available for the subsequent homeowners. <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg stated that a high percentage of people in the metro area are <br />concerned about open space and wetlands. He stated that ultimately it affects a lot of <br />taxpayers as to how happy they are with their land. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that the wetland buffer has very little impact currently, but <br />the books can be used as tools. These tools are necessary for new residents on lots that <br />are adjacent to wetlands. He concurred that information is helpful to the staff. <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg asked if there were contacts in Minneapolis since there is a lot <br />of awareness of wetlands in the city of Minneapolis. He stated that they have had to <br />create them to keep the lakes from disappearing. <br /> <br />Board Member Max stated that Lake of the Isles wetland had to be reclaimed. He stated <br />that they dealt with high visibility. He stated that he will contact the Minneapolis Park <br />Board to inquire if they have information about wetlands. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that the intent of the next meeting is to bring ideas about <br />what should be included in the outline of the wetland buffer book. <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg stated that he would go to the DNR and see what information <br />they might be able to share with the EPB. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that summer months are typically difficult for the EPB <br />members to accomplish items on the Work Plan, but the focal point will be for the <br />wetland buffer book <br /> <br />Board Member Bentz asked if the EPB can do the legwork for grants. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that all the City is looking for is the EPB to point out <br />potential grants that could be utilized. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that there was no resolution about which staff person to even <br />take grant information to at the last work session. <br /> <br />Environmental Policy Board/June 5, 2006 <br />Page 7 of 10 <br />
