Commissioner Shryock wondered if they could get an agreement with the property owner to mow
the area until development occurs because it is hard to walk to the park along there and a lot of
people use this park for soccer in the summer and fall.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they would start mowing this.
• Update on Elmcrest Park
Civil Engineer II Linton stated the storm sewer pipe is all in. For the pavement section, they
recommended putting fabric over the clay before paving. He stated they have exhausted all of
the soil onsite and will need to import and they knew they had to import and will start this on
Monday and by the end of next week they should have it ready to pave. He stated the Council
decided to pave the entire area because they had enough money.
Civil Engineer II Linton showed a map of the park to the Commission and explained what was to
be done in the park.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they had a really wet May and then a very dry period
after that which was very helpful.
Civil Engineer II Linton stated by the next meeting he would estimate they should have some
bituminous in the there. Trails will be this fall and were authorized. He stated they will get the
major stuff in.
Commissioner Olds wondered when the sewer will go in.
Civil Engineer II Linton stated storm sewer is the only thing stubbed in.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated it will take a few years to get the sewer into the park
area.
Civil Engineer II Linton stated the Comprehensive Sewer Plan has been approved but it will take
a while for sewer to get into the area.
• Banners
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated he picked up the banners for the "No Smoking"
campaign and they will be displayed at the game fair and Happy Days.
• Park Projects
Commissioner Shryock asked if the other gazebo was done in Flintwood Terrace Park.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the posts are in but it is not finished. The
Commission discussed the gazebo aesthetics and irrigation in the park.
Park and Recreation Commission/August 12,2004
Page 4 of 5
