Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought the net could be in the buck shot area and the
rocks could be placed elsewhere. He showed a catalog of manmade tree trunks for a tree house.
Commissioner LaMere inquired if the play equipment was considered ADA compliant.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they have two options they could use to access the
play areas. One would be to use resilient tiles that lead to the play equipment and transfer decks
but this does not warranty perfect accessibility to all of the play areas. Another affect is wood
fiber pathways that will not mold or disintegrate and may be the better choice because the tiles
are hard to maintain and keep clean.
Chairperson Johns stated she liked the more natural affects for the park.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood noted the climbing rock is well thought out and designed
for children age's six to twelve.
Chairperson Johns asked if the fifty-five thousand dollars put aside for this park would cover all
of the elements.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated it would.
Commissioner Lehman asked for clarification on the pictures in the packet for placement of the
new equipment.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated he did not have ideas as to where the equipment will
go at this time but gave suggestions to the Commission.
Commissioner Ostrum wondered if they could use some rocks in the open areas.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought they could but would want to construct some trails
from the parking area to the play areas.
Chairperson Johns asked if any of the equipment could be salvageable.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought a few of the items could be kept. He stated they
would check the equipment to see which items could be fixed up and kept.
Commissioner Lehman thought the tree house idea was a good concept.
Commissioner Shryock agreed and asked for more information and pricing of how much a tree
house would be.
Commissioner Shryock thought there were other parks where the net could be utilized better
because it was a more high tech piece of equipment.
Chairperson Johns noted she would like to have the climbing rocks at the park.
Park and Recreation Commission/October 14, 2004
Page 3 of 6
