He stated that almost all of the developed
parks received some form of improvement.
Alpine Park
Alpine Park Discovery Garden needs to go back to the City Council for the $85,000 approval.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood passed out a letter from Ms. Regina Flanagan. He noted
they have the $80,000 in the park fund but the total amount for the project is around $110,000.
They need to find additional funding in order to do the entire project.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated there are a couple of funding sources where they can
obtain some additional funds. The Rotary Club is celebrating their 100 years next year and could
be a great opportunity for this park.
Chairperson Johns questioned the $80,000 amount and thought they had more in the fund for this
park.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated she was correct, they do have money from Alpine
Acres and they need to search the minutes to earmark the funds for this but they would also like
to do the irrigation in the front of Alpine Park so $110,000 may end up to be more like $120,000.
Chairperson Johns asked when this item will go before the City Council.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated Ms. Flannigan needs to get more information
together to bring this before the City Council.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they had a lot of irrigation repairs in this park and
they used the repairs for training for a new employee. They also added Ag lime to the ball fields.
Commissioner Olds asked what is with the dirt piles in the park.
Civil Engineer II Linton stated they had to lower the berms for policing.
Autumn Heights
Park and Recreation Commission/September 9,2004
Page 2 of 8
