Commissioner Ostrum stated he would like to keep this out of the central area. He mentioned
this because they do not have a track field at other parks and he thought this would be more
unique.

Ms. Bartels asked if there were any courts or fields the Commission did not want to see there.

Commissioner Olds stated instead of a ball field, maybe they could have a skate park where kids
could play street hockey.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated they should let the school be the driving force and pay for
it. He explained how they
need to be very careful regarding the amount of money they recommend for Park Dedication. If
they are able to achieve their entire objectives, are they concerned about giving land dedication.
He explained that the Commission has taken a strong position that trails along major roads are
done at the developer’s expense. Park dedication should be satisfied by cash if possible. To
further support that, this is not a PUD; it is a Special Zoning District.

Park and Recreation Commission/July 30, 2003
Page 10 of 11
