Chairperson Johns stated they need different types of seating to accommodate the handicapped and older people also. Commissioner Shryock stated if Ms. Bartels took the Commissions ideas, they could develop something including the Commissions ideas. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos asked if he could get a consensus on what they do not need to consider such as cross-country skiers. Chairperson Johns stated she included some of the items on her list because she was trying to include things for each season and she did not know if there would be flowing water throughout or not. They have also talked about different themed gardens in the areas with things for kids to climb on and enjoy. Commissioner Ostrum asked if they could take a concept plan that the developers have and look at it and delete things they don’t want. The Commissioner went on to discuss the east Concept Plan. Concept Plan East Commissioner Ostrum indicated he liked the way it looks. Chairperson Johns agreed. Commissioner Shryock stated she did not want to see a typical playground structure in there, she would prefer interesting playable structures. Ms. Bartels asked if they would prefer a more adventurous and exploratory play area. The Commission agreed and decided that when they get to the neighborhood parks, they can deal with the more traditional structures. Commissioner Lehman stated any historical references they can pull in to the park to make it unique would be nice. Chairperson Johns stated she would like that idea to be used throughout. Commissioner Olds stated the goal is to bring identity to the City. Commissioner Shryock stated they should keep it family oriented and celebratory in the entire area.
