Chairperson Johns stated they need different types of seating to accommodate the handicapped <br />and older people also. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock stated if Ms. Bartels took the Commissions ideas, they could develop <br />something including the Commissions ideas. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos asked if he could get a consensus on what they do not need to <br />consider such as cross-country skiers. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated she included some of the items on her list because she was trying to <br />include things for each season and she did not know if there would be flowing water throughout <br />or not. They have also talked about different themed gardens in the areas with things for kids to <br />climb on and enjoy. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum asked if they could take a concept plan that the developers have and look <br />at it and delete things they don’t want. <br /> <br />The Commissioner went on to discuss the east Concept Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />Concept Plan East <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum indicated he liked the way it looks. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns agreed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock stated she did not want to see a typical playground structure in there, she <br />would prefer interesting playable structures. <br /> <br />Ms. Bartels asked if they would prefer a more adventurous and exploratory play area. <br /> <br />The Commission agreed and decided that when they get to the neighborhood parks, they can deal <br />with the more traditional structures. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lehman stated any historical references they can pull in to the park to make it <br />unique would be nice. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated she would like that idea to be used throughout. <br /> <br />Commissioner Olds stated the goal is to bring identity to the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock stated they should keep it family oriented and celebratory in the entire <br />area. <br /> <br />Ms. Bartels stated this area will be the more natural, quiet part of the center. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/July 30, 2003 <br />Page 6 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
