Chairperson Johns asked if they were working with the school to see what their needs were. Ms. Bartels stated they are but she does not know how it will work out financially. Concept Plan West Ms. Bartels asked if they Commission would like fishing or swimming in that area. Commissioner Ostrum stated he would like to see it a swimming area. Commissioner Johns stated they should make it zero entrance but to have it a little deeper with a spray deck. Commissioner LaMere asked how deep they could go without having a lifeguard. Chairperson Johns stated they might just need to post a sign stating no lifeguard. Commissioner Olds stated he thought four feet would be deep enough. Ms. Bartels stated there are regulations that they would need to follow and she did not know if this would impact parking. Commissioner Lehman stated he did not envision this to be an activity center where people would spend the day. Commissioner Shryock stated if the swimming hole is unique enough; the City will be getting groups of people on a nice day to the area. Chairperson Johns stated she did not want to see parking within the space. Ms. Bartels stated there will be parking along the outside of the space. Commissioner Olds stated the there was an issue he saw in the area which was a picnic area next to the community garden because he thought if people went to picnic they might be inclined to pick the vegetation thinking it was alright to do so. Commissioner Shryock asked if they could put the community garden into another green space they have and use this area for open space. Ms. Bartels stated the gardens in the town center park would be more floral display. Commissioner Johns stated she would prefer a more natural display with a butterfly garden or a grove of trees.
